I read the article and really it’s an incredibly sensible take. The WBA ordered a mandatory out of order.
Thing is Fury just satisfied his mandatory challenger and under WBCs own rules he can sit on his hands for up to 9-12 months from that date.
What’s necessary time? There was almost a year and a half between the 2nd and 3rd Wilder fights? I know Covid and the AJ negotiatoins were a thing but it still could’ve happened sooner.
Fury defended his belt twice in the last 6 months. The situation on an undisputed fight will likely clear up in the next two months. If Fury wasn’t floating retirement rumors, if he didn’t announce anything until August, it wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary.
If after Joshua/Usyk is done, Fury is refusing to face any of them, then sure they can make a decision. But right now it’s dumb to give up on a major fight with no rush.
Why give Fury unnecessary time? Either he is retired or not
