I'll never forget that video of Alvarado shadowboxing in street clothes. He has my vote for biggest decline out of any fighter I've ever seen while still active

I was hyped on him at one point then after Rios he just vanished. He did get out hearted / out toughed in that fight and like took something from him.

The coke/meth took even more from him. Dude went too hard into the drugs and it cost him.

Alvarados run of fights with Prescott, Herrera, and Rios were so incredibly entertaining. Shame the third Rios-Alvarado fight was such a bust. I genuinely think Rios would have had a great performance that night even if Alvarado showed up shot. Alvarado just wasnt the same after the beatings he took from Provodnikov & Marquez.

Alvarado was a beast…the Rios fights are forgotten classics .

Mike did some sparring in my boxing gym back in 2013 a few months before he was on the pac undercard. Seeing him spar in person really showed me the difference of the amateurs and low level pros I had been accustomed to. Dude was a monster for a while.
