I like Mike a lot. One of my favorite fights was Alvarado vs Rios 1. Good fight! Both fighter were never the same after that fight.

I'll never forget that video of Alvarado shadowboxing in street clothes. He has my vote for biggest decline out of any fighter I've ever seen while still active
Alvarados run of fights with Prescott, Herrera, and Rios were so incredibly entertaining.
Shame the third Rios-Alvarado fight was such a bust. I genuinely think Rios would have had a great performance that night even if Alvarado showed up shot.
Alvarado just wasnt the same after the beatings he took from Provodnikov & Marquez.
Mike did some sparring in my boxing gym back in 2013 a few months before he was on the pac undercard. Seeing him spar in person really showed me the difference of the amateurs and low level pros I had been accustomed to. Dude was a monster for a while.

Forgotten HBO classic. Rios blocking punches with his chin.

I was hyped on him at one point then after Rios he just vanished. He did get out hearted / out toughed in that fight and like took something from him.
The coke/meth took even more from him. Dude went too hard into the drugs and it cost him.
More the street life

Alvarado was a beast…the Rios fights are forgotten classics .

When was this fight, what was the main card. I can’t find it
Welcome to the Mile High Club, Sidney 😎
Mike was a real street dude. The fact he couldn’t stay away is what led to his short time at the top.
Mike was always fun to watch. He brought all he had win lose or draw in every fight.
