thecody80

Zepeda was just dominated at every range for a majority of the fight, Prograis inside game towards at the end really broke him down

thebiglebrosky

Prograis has always been my favorite 140 fighter so im glad hes finally getting the recognition he deserves

Horror_Atmosphere_51

What a great fight that was - two fighters engaged in high speed chess and then some priceless back and forth with Prograis finally dominating and realizing his dream of capturing another championship belt after 3 years in the wilderness. Prograis will give all the top ranked fighters in the division willies. He's sharp and powerful and has incredible reflexes and great ring IQ. Additionally, he is a very likable guy who always remains respectful of his opponents. I wish him all the best in reigning as the new king of the WBC @ 140. Welcome back, champ!

paxilsavedme

So happy for Prograis, go champ!

bigfatpup

Zepeda looked terrible. He won the first then took the next 8 rounds off, fought well in the 10th then got stopped in the 11th 😂 I always said Regis was in the top 2 with taylor and they were a level above Zepeda, Ramirez etc

asislikesboxing

Also Zepeda's corner was awful, they were telling him he was winning the fight, with any urgency at all, the complete opposite of Prograis' corner

kyle2516

I agree with those who say Zepeda was dominated. You know, when I heard the fight was in California I worried that Zepeda would have this kind of performance, especially because the crowd was going to be in his favor. Zepeda just doesn't perform well when the pressure is at its highest--its like he has a mental block come on when he fights in championship fights. Zepeda started out the fight very tight, and just never could get into it. He landed a few good shots, here and there, but mentally he wasn't there tonight. Granted, Regis looked extremely awkward in there, Zepeda didn't know what to do with him. Like someone else said, he tried to outbox Regis, but ended up getting jabbed to death. Once Zepeda tasted Regis power in rounds 2 and 3 he got extremely gun shy, and after this he just wasn't in it. His defense looked atrocious tonight as well--maybe Regis speed was just overwhelming? This was Zepeda's last chance and he got completely dominated and then viciously knocked out. He will never be the same. Hurts to say because he was up there with my favorite fighters right now. Congrats to Regis.

montana273

Well he did get into a car accident this week maybe thsts why

htwnmvp

1q²q

GrandiloquentGenes

Huh

Indygoose

These guys are both terribly managed, hopefully not after tonight. Zepeda got bad advice from his corner, but I doubt the best advice could have changed the outcome.

DengusMcFlengus

Regis is fucking amazing. Slick, powerful, high IQ, and he's a class act through and through

SayAgainYourLast

do ppl really think teo can compete with Regis? I think zepeda stops teo tbh.

SFvalleyalcoholic

Idk styles always make everything. Teo is explosive, zepeda is a skilled ass warrior, and regis is a cobra. There isn't any way to accurately determine how those 3 will match up. But I'd wager teo is competitive.

SayAgainYourLast

thats fair

sugerdigitalgenius

Zepeda didn’t care about losing the actual fight but losing the battle of the jabs is unacceptable 😂😂

Stikors

I think he schools teo tbf, josh rematch is the fight to make

grand_insom

Good fight. Way more competitive than the broadcast made it seem. Prograis was very impressive. Don't think Zepeda did much wrong. He was in there with a faster, stronger, slicker fighter who's awkward. Prograis just beat him in every aspect. No adjustments you can make against that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

grand_insom

Ask Prograis who said it was one of the toughest fights of his career and had a busted ear drum, a bloody nose, and a bunch of bruises on his face. I didn't say it was close either.

Botoraka

Facts. Zepeda got beat tf up maybe won 1 or 2 rounds

Stikors

Indeed, he was getting beat badly from start to finish

Stikors

He’s still a warrior tho and gave his all in the end leading to the ko

[deleted]

[удалено]

CoCoB319

Not even close to the same weight class

Bellyflopcanyon

How Regis can generate so much power with just arm punches is insane. Teo next please. Winner fights Taylor

Intrepid_Credit_9885

Regis by fucking devastating knockout

lAmZodiac

Dude, I don’t know how, but I hadn’t even thought of that matchup. Now—I HAVE to see that fight.

yontev

Regis schooled his opponent but still gives him total respect. He's a class act.

nalam8493

Regis has such an old school style. Hands down, great head movement with a piston like southpaw jab. Loves to scrap and trade too. Glad he has a belt again too, felt like he was getting blackballed his last few fights because of how tough of a matchup he is. War Rougarou

Charlie-Bell

And his head movement to control distance is insane too. You watch as his opponent moves away, he follows with his head to not create the space the other guy is trying to create.

ProfessionalMany981

He want some of them Hispanic demographic giving all them props to Zepeda.

Wavepops

Zepeda is a warrior damn

SFvalleyalcoholic

Ultimate respect to zepeda for biting down and going for it at the end. He knew what was up and tried his best.

chichi1324

Absolutely, I didn’t like people questioning his heart here. He was clearly just outmatched against an elite and very skilled fighter.

SmokinJoe_11

It was that low front hand that got Zepeda KOd. Dude is the slower fighter but kept his lead hand low. Prograis was able to land that jab the whole fight. A lazy jab for Zepeda and a big over hand left counter was bound to happen.

[deleted]

Prograis is the top guy at 140, i don't care how many belts Taylor has.

renis_h

I dont know about top guy. Prograis and Taylor already fought, and Taylor got the better of Prograis. With that said, it was a close MD, so Prograis may have developed since then, though I would argue it's pretty hard to develop off one fight a year (with that said, Taylor has had a similar amount of activity). While Taylor did look bad in his last fight against Caterall, I don't think that was a very good performance from him, and I do feel like we will see a different Josh Taylor in the rematch.

AltKite

They have the same number of belts now I think (plus Taylor has the ring) They fought, it was very even. Need to see them run it back

[deleted]

Yeah, i scored the first fight for Prograis. Plus, it seems like prograis is getting better. I don't think they'll ever fight again, since Taylor plans on moving up after Caterall 2; But in my mind, Prograis beats him in a rematch. Who do you think would win?

AltKite

I honestly have no idea. Prograis hasn't been active enough to know if he's getting any better. He looked fantastic today but he's fought nobodies otherwise since Taylor, so really hard to know now much he's improved Vs how much is Zepeda being worse than Taylor. I think I scored the fight 7-5 to Taylor but felt like Prograis looked slightly better, if that makes any sense. I'd expect a rematch to be razor-thin again with the caveat that the Taylor we get is the best of Taylor. Going to sit on the fence for this one but I'd love to see it, even at 147.

CoCoB319

Taylor only has 1 now. He vacated the others by not fighting mandatories, but I think he plans to move up after Catterall fight

KNYLJNS

He’s showing a lot of respect. I like that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lAmZodiac

You should be more Thankful.

ToWhomItMayConcern01

Zepeda didnt sparr southpaws??? That jab hand too low it was just a matter of time

AnonymousScout360

Prograis vs Teo next

Wavepops

Regis would have always beat Ramirez hope that fight happens next. Business ties are so important look at Ramirez big fights compared to regis despite regis being better

happyhork

Good guy Regis

badthrowaway77

Josh Taylor Humbled him. But I always liked Regis. He is a possible star.

paxilsavedme

Humbled him? There was nothing in that fight.

sugaslim45

lmfaoo he always been humble. Plus the fight was super close

fadeddreams555

Went how I expected. I've always said, the two most underrated elite boxers are Regis Prograis and Stephen Fulton.

slickvik9

Fulton already got worked by Figueroa

[deleted]

Prograis is a beast, Inoue kills Fulton.

fadeddreams555

I got Fulton by decision. Inoue's one of my fave boxers too, but that feels like an easy bet.

Kensofine

Nope.

Stikors

Prograis is probably the most talented boxer at 140. He’s got the whole package. Cant wait for him to unify

renis_h

I mean, I hope he can unify with someone, but you need to remember that 2 titles at 140 will end up washing up on PBC Island. And once that occurs, those titles are likely to going to stay there for a while. I mean, Alberto Puello has already got one title, and he will probably unify with his PBC stable mate. Then they will stay that way for a while. I dont see Prograis being able to get to those titles. Just hope that once Taylor makes the full move up, the other title doesn't end up on PBC, because then prograis will likely be frozen out of the title picture.

SayAgainYourLast

damn thats mad dope from regis, more respect to him

Maharajah_1

Good fight by Prograis. Don't know if he can handle Lopez. He gets hit a lot. He'll need to be more elusive vs Teofimo. Great finish though.

Broicism_kink

How many people do you think bought this lol

Charlie-Bell

Hopefully just the one who's sharing it for everyone else

ordinarystrength

Prograis beats anyone at 140, including rematch with Taylor. Now that he has a belt again, hopefully we see him in big fights

Neveezy

Zepeda had no game plan at all

TwittaFingers

Geez that onslaught came out of nowhere and it was brutal

lexax666

Shit Regis has a chin on him. Zepeda landed some lights out punches on him ( like a full power left hand as Regis was throwing his ), and he walked through them

weebo_waifu

Great performance by Regis. He needs to sign to a big promoter to get him big fights

Botoraka

Not FOTY AT ALL. Zepeda fought terrified all fight, kept trying to outbox Prograis rounds and rounds after it was clear he was getting dominated that way. Hurt Regis then backed off and tied up. Pitiful performance.

kyle2516

Agreed

LuigiangeloHazuki

I think he got hurt in that exchange too. They both landed, but only Zepeda went on to hold

626_ed7

Low blow that made him hold.

RRR04_

Y'all better not sleep on this guy ever again! If anybody still thinks Gervonta beats this guy, you can suck dick!

Neveezy

I mean, it's possible

RRR04_

Oh shut up, no it is not possible. Gervonta is tiny compared to Regis. This is 140, not 135.

Neveezy

You do know that Tank has fought and won a belt at 140 before right? And Barrios is bigger than Prograis. Chill

RRR04_

Gervonta fought **ONCE** at 140 against a weight drained Mario Barrios who does not possess the skills that Prograis has. **You** chill.

Neveezy

Lol now Barrios was weight drained? And regardless, Tank is more skilled than Regis. I'm saying chill cause you real passionate simply because I said it's possible Tank can win

RRR04_

>Lol now Barrios was weight drained? https://youtu.be/XW4GGAGmYk4 Listen to what Prograis had to say when he tried to get the Barrios fight. Then you can say something. >And regardless, Tank is more skilled than Regis. 🤣🤣 And you tell me to chill. Nah, **you** chill. Tank ain't even got a jab! Can't be more skilled than a guy with a jab. >I'm saying chill cause you real passionate simply because I said it's possible Tank can win I have an allergic reaction when it comes to stupid comments. Tank has zero chance against any top 140 pounder. Not Prograis, not Taylor, not Teo, not Antuanne Russell, not nobody!

Neveezy

>https://youtu.be/XW4GGAGmYk4 Listen to what Prograis had to say when he tried to get the Barrios fight. Then you can say something. So you're taking credit away from Tank because Barrios chose to fight him instead of Regis? Come on man. If the fight happened and Regis knocked him out too, would you be saying it was because Barrios was weight drained? Let's be for real >🤣🤣 And you tell me to chill. Nah, you chill. Tank ain't even got a jab! Can't be more skilled than a guy with a jab. Tank don't have a jab? Yeah you really either don't watch Tank or don't know what you watching. He has a good jab off the back foot he uses to set up his power shots. He even has a Hagler-like leaping jab in his bag. Perfect fight to see both on display is the Pedraza fight >I have an allergic reaction when it comes to stupid comments. Tank has zero chance against any top 140 pounder. Not Prograis, not Taylor, not Teo, not Antuanne Russell, not nobody! Yeah you just a Tank hater lol at the very least he has a puncher's chance

RRR04_

>So you're taking credit away from Tank because Barrios chose to fight him instead of Regis? Barrios had the intention of moving up in weight, Floyd and Ellerbe caught wind of it and they decided to offer him the Tank fight. Of course he was gonna take it with a good offer. But the point still stands that Barrios was gonna move up if that offer didn't come through. His immediate next fight was at 147, take it how you see it. >If the fight happened and Regis knocked him out too, would you be saying it was because Barrios was weight drained? I'd pick Prograis to knock Barrios out even if he wasn't drained. If they happened to fight at 147, I would still pick Prograis to win. Even if he wasn't weight drained, that wouldn't be a big win for Prograis at all. Zepeda is a real win, hell even Relikh is a better win than Barrios would've been. >Tank don't have a jab? Yeah you really either don't watch Tank or don't know what you watching. His jab has been missing for his last 5 fights or so, he's been far too focused on counter punches. He hasn't been setting nothing up with his jabs, he doesn't even connect with it. Just look at the punch stats, say no more. >He even has a Hagler-like leaping jab in his bag LOOOOL now you're just reaching. >Yeah you just a Tank hater lol at the very least he has a puncher's chance I admit I don't like the guy, but he simply has no business at 140. He hasn't even done anything at 135, so how are you gauging how well he can do at 140? Off of his wins over Rolly, Cruz and Gamb🤣a? Come on now, lol. Let him fight a genuine top Lightweight before making these bold claims.

Neveezy

>Barrios had the intention of moving up in weight, Floyd and Ellerbe caught wind of it and they decided to offer him the Tank fight. Of course he was gonna take it with a good offer. But the point still stands that Barrios was gonna move up if that offer didn't come through. His immediate next fight was at 147, take it how you see it. I guess man. I've seen far worse bodies at weigh-ins, and I don't get why you don't consider the fact it was Tank's first fight at the weight. Dude is a midget for the class. So while one guy is outgrowing, the other is trying to get acclimated. >Even if he wasn't weight drained, that wouldn't be a big win for Prograis at all. Zepeda is a real win, hell even Relikh is a better win than Barrios would've been. I mean, it would have been for a belt against an undefeated champion. I hear you though >His jab has been missing for his last 5 fights or so, he's been far too focused on counter punches. He hasn't been setting nothing up with his jabs, he doesn't even connect with it. Just look at the punch stats, say no more. Yeah that's facts. He hasn't really shown as much skill in recent fights, but I think that's been because of his competition. >LOOOOL now you're just reaching. Was just watching this [fight](https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx0vtzyvXWF3eJU3V3MnzKgykZ2C4KO8SD) >I admit I don't like the guy, but he simply has no business at 140. He hasn't even done anything at 135, so how are you gauging how well he can do at 140? Off of his wins over Rolly, Cruz and Gamb🤣a? Come on now, lol. Let him fight a genuine top Lightweight before making these bold claims. Saying it's possible he could beat Regis is bold? Lol I agree he doesn't have the best resume at 135, but I can see skill. Regis is simply not more skilled than Tank. His inside game is trash and I'm really surprised Zepeda didn't exploit that. He's not even a better outside boxer than Tank. Now somebody else at 140 like a Russell or a Taylor, I'd favor.

Fantastic-Cold2455

How was he weight drained?

RRR04_

Right after he fought Karl David, Prograis wanted to fight him, Barrios told him he was moving up to 147 as he was struggling to make weight. As soon as that was made public, Mayweather offered him the Tank fight at 140.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RRR04_

So go on, send it then, you flippin' helmet. Whilst you're at it, if it wasn't so bad for him, why did he immediately go up to 147 and asked for 10 ounce gloves? Wear this ---> 🪖

[deleted]

[удалено]

GlockinaCroc

Tank knocks this dude the fuck out, Haney and Shakur school Regis to.

ColdestBurrburr

Shakur barley moved to 135, Haney hasn’t fought at 140 yet and Tank was getting outboxed by Barrios at 140. Not saying Regis KO’s Tank but it would be a very close fight

RRR04_

🤣🤣🤣🤣 go to sleep casual. Shakur maybe could, potentially. Haney doesn't have the pop though and Gervonta is too small for Rougarou.

GlockinaCroc

Just say you suck Regis dick after the fight casual… you really think this dude has a chance against tank, Shakur, Teo, or Haney. You’re the casual 😂😂

RRR04_

Until you provide some technical analysis of how Regis would lose to those guys, keep your mouth shut and your fingers clenched to stop typing. You ain't a glock in your crock, you got Gervonta's sock on your cock.

GlockinaCroc

You can come through and see 😬

RRR04_

So you admit that you got Gervonta's sock on your cock? Eash, you sus! 🤣

AltKite

Man 140 with Taylor, Prograis, Haney, Teo and Garcia would be fantastic

lAmZodiac

It’s still early for them, but I like Lee and Barboza too.

Chadoodling

Dont forget Ramirez too

Charlie-Bell

Prograis has been so wasted. I think if he were better managed and more active, he'd likely be in p4p discussions.

maxyignaciomendez

he was in some p4p discussion back then before he loss to taylor , and taylor took that spot for some time , sorry i know i'm late haha

Charlie-Bell

Lol, no problem. That is kinda the point though. He could have bounced back quick and got back in the discussion. Prograis is seriously good. Elite level. But in the current state of play, he's barely even relevant.

paxilsavedme

It’s a damn shame, but maybe avoided?

Charlie-Bell

He's 33. He looks great and can still achieve lot the way he looked last night, but his best years are still technically gone.

paxilsavedme

Unfortunately at 33 as a lightweight I think you are right but maybe his skills will hold for maybe 2 more years?

Charlie-Bell

Yeah, he's been champ twice already and done a decent amount up to now. But after the tournament and even after the Taylor fight was really the time to capitalise and build momentum. I do hope from this though he maybe picks up some promotion and has some meaningful fights in the next year or two.

Holiday-Meeting7981

Who was that incel yelling at at the end outside the ring

LuigiangeloHazuki

I was that incel

xSwitchblade-

Imagine Prograis vs Teofimo 🔥🔥

GlockinaCroc

Teo by TKO

Holiday-Meeting7981

I'd take wide Teofimo by KO - and I hate Teofimo.

sugerdigitalgenius

Boxing Gems on YT getting everybody paid off his predictions, it’s crazy to witness in real time. FILM DON’T LIE!

Botoraka

FILM DONT LIE, RUN HIM HIS SUPERCHATS

sugerdigitalgenius

With the amount of value his YT channel adds to boxing Shit I’m in forever debt to Gems. Giving out fight predictions is a form of student loan forgiveness!🫡

[deleted]

Told you Prograis was breaking him down.

goosu

Prograis looked great in this fight. Glad to see him back closer to the center stage of 140.

aayeex

There’s levels to it man

Rickyso504

It’s crazy because when zepeda knocked out Vargas I was thinking the same now prograis knocks him out

Superly_Sardonic

The bookies had it wide for a reason

SFvalleyalcoholic

It doesn't really work like that. The bookies opened it very narrow, it's the publics money that changes it. Bookies just care about collecting vig, not the actual outcome of anything.

DOHGEEEE

Regis has such a cool style. I like watching it.

lAmZodiac

After Bivol v. Zurdo, I came to the conclusion that Dmitry Bivol fights like a *’Beautiful Terminator’.* Now, I’ve come to the conclusion that Regis Prograis fights like a *’Silk Waterbug’.* If you appreciate the Beauty of Combat Sports—It doesn’t get much better than those two.

Inner_Lychee7547

Zepeda didn't have an answer for him all fight; Prograis looked vicious throughout tonight.

Wavepops

Same type of 1-2 zepeda finished josue with right? Maybe a tad more chopping

robm2002

The commenter just said this was a fight of the year candidate 😂

grand_insom

After trashing Zepeda the whole fight 😂😂 Zero shame from these guys

badagrump

Great performance from Prograis. Dominated from round 3 and a what a finish.

happyhork

Beautiful finish. Very nice from Prograis, hope he gets in there with Teo or Taylor again next.

Zvezda87

Man, both fighters would have gained a ton of fans on a regular network. Solid fight.

RRR04_

Happy for Prograis, I always knew he was top 2 at 140, he only lost a very close fight to Taylor that he could win in a rematch. I hope he gets more big fights now, I see Ramirez pushing for a shot.

goosu

I'd like to see that re-match if Taylor can regain his form at 140.

RRR04_

140 has heated up. I am liking the potential here better than at 147 and 135!

Bellyflopcanyon

Freaking Chon, holds when he has his guy hurt. But doesnt hold when he is hurt smh

626_ed7

I think it was because Prograis landed a low blows.

Botoraka

Regis IS the big 3 in the division 🤨

jadooo0

Ayo my bookie gave me money for Prograis by decision

Ezekjuninor

Lmaoo better withdraw that money

Charlie-Bell

Great fight to watch. Maybe not competitive enough for FOTY, but definitely enjoyable.

Drewbinaj

What an ending.

Execution23

Gtfo with "fight of the year candidate". This commentator blows

ColdestBurrburr

Regis is the best 140 pounder

GlockinaCroc

Lmfao

Holiday-Meeting7981

Pretty sure two can wash him

JaesunG

What a fight. Happy to see Regis as a title holder again. Hope to see Zepeda come back better than ever.

That’ll do!

Savage ko

Beautiful champ

coldcard55

Rematch Taylor in the US and he’s getting the decision this time

frowawaymane

Taylor’s not allowed in the US 🙃

gracias-cabron

Prograis a bad mf

jkoke11

What a great fight, shame it couldn’t be on regular tv

retrograderevolution

Fine with the stoppage. Zepeda was fucked.

Wavepops

Regis is an A level fighter, sucks that he makes shit business decision good for him. Zepeda is a dog

Superly_Sardonic

Yes boy!!!

MitchLGC

Brutal ending

BeastsMode69

Good finish

ColdestBurrburr

Gawd damnnn boy

Fantastic-Cold2455

Devin Haney beats Regis .

Neveezy

Haney needs more experience with southpaws and hasn't even fought at this weight yet

jomerc1

A lot of those 135 guys can probably deal with this guy

Chiefmiest

Hell no too much power. Dude got rocked by linares you think he can take one from a big 140?

Fantastic-Cold2455

Why is it also this stupid argument ? “He got rocked once in a fight he won 12-0 so he loses to guy with power “ islam makhachev was knocked out and before his fight with chalres people were saying the same thing we all saw what happened . Learn how to form a better argument Npc .

Chiefmiest

You dont know shit about boxing. Regis is big 140, a southpaw with boxing skills and power all he has to do is land that left on haney once and haney gets dropped. I like Haney too but regis is dangerous and isn't someone haney can just outbox for 12 rounds especially if regis doesn't respect his power. Dude is walking down zepada, you think he wont walk down haney?

Fantastic-Cold2455

“Lands once and he gets dropped “ yea buddy I’m the one who doesn’t know shit about boxing tho lol idiot , DH never touching the Canvas yet you think this . I don’t care if you like Haney or not that’s irrelevant to this conversation . And are you seriously using regis walking down a one dimensional brawler Zepeda as your argument for him walking down Devin Haney ? A boxer who fights at the back foot and has the best jab in boxing ? Yea a idiot like you isn’t going to get taken serious.

Chiefmiest

Haney took multiple rounds to recover against linares and you think he wont get dropped against a big 140 with power? Haney hasn't been dropped because hes always the bigger guy in his weight class going against dudes who aren't punchers. Move up to 140 and the size different is gone. Haney is one of my favorite fighters but he is also one dimensional. His plan every fight is to fight behind the jab and keep his range. Now what if someone bigger than him who can take punches from bigger punches than him walks him down for 36 mins?

AltKite

Regis is exactly the kind of style that beats Haney.

LeBronto_Raptors

holy shit that ended fast

Execution23

Nice shot. Man the ref should have counted that a knockdown a lot earlier though. The ropes held him up for way too long.

Maharajah_1

Should have been counted as the ropes prevented a knock down.

sugerdigitalgenius

DUMBASS!!!!!

toiletpayper

DAMN, that knockout was brutal

TwittaFingers

Definitely should’ve taken a knee right there

trustinabalenotahoe

Fuckkk

A1_PunisherPipkins

That was a great fight and a great finish!

Botoraka

REEGIIIIISSSSSS

RRR04_

Prograis a damned finisher!

cblack112

What a knockout, that was brutal
