I like to imagine that Kevin knows absolutely nothing about the franchise and is going in totally blind. Just unfiltered Kevin Bacon reacting to this shit in real time.
I don’t know if it’s shown in the special, but apparently Gunn confirmed Bacon’s career went a little different in the MCU and that he was in Cocktail and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,
I'm just a very casual fan of the Marvel stuff, so I wasn't aware Kevin Bacon played a marvel villain called Sebastian Shaw.
The real actor Sebastian Shaw was the unmasked Vader in RotJ and ghost Anakin pre 2004 special edition. With this being a Holiday Special from a space fantasy I was hoping for some Star Wars references. So I had way too many thoughts about this now
that's...not really that weird? it's pretty normal when writing for an actor cameo to have that blocked out before you pitch it to the actor, so they know what they're signing on for, with a backup plan or two if they say no. it's not quite the same as casting for a lead role, which you usually have in place before things approach that final stage (sometimes even before scripts are written).
Interesting because my comment could very well be interpreted in a negative or positive way. I’m not saying he is bad but lately his movies have underperformed
It’s not my fault you all go hating for an opinion. I would’ve gladly explained but instead I get comments like this like wtf
Because nobody asked for your opinion. We were debating his talents or films. One person said they were excited and you just had to make it an argument.
Not everything is an invitation for debate.
Kevin Bacon lost a ton of money to Bernie Madoff so he doesn't really say "no" to roles anymore (remember those Kevin Bacon superfan commercials?) so while nothing is guaranteed, it was a pretty sure bet.
Would be a awful situation if he asked Kevin Bacon to be part of the special but Bacon said no.
Maybe Plan B would’ve been Hasselhoff
Would Plan C have been Alyssa Milano or Pat Benatar?
Or

The plan D was me
Flash Gordon
Zardu Hasslefrau Zardu Hasslefrau
They would have just cast Ethan Hawke as Kevin Bacon instead.
Ok good so I’m not the only one who occasionally mixes them up huh

This person knows what’s up. Now let’s talk about Jon Hamm.

Kevin Bacon wasn't in Moon Knight, ya goober.
Lmao I thought he was but it’s Ethan hawke
He was confident cuz he knew he's hot right now
Kevin Bacon was the villain in Gunn's indie film Super. I'm sure he had a hunch based on already having a working relationship with one another

He probably thought he was coming back as Sebastian Shaw when Gunn asked him.
Keep an eye out for Sebastian Shaw easter eggs, such as Magneto's helmet or whatever in Bacon's living room.

Kevin signed the contract without reading it, then Klementieff and Bautista broke into his house in-costume and Gunn just filmed it all
This is how I'm going into this thinking
Kevin be plugged in to the culture tbh. Wasn’t he singing Beyoncé’s HEATED to his goats a few weeks ago.

Yeah thats more or less still how writing scripts works lol
Can't wait to see in which direction Gunn will take DC... Not only he's a great creator, but a lot of people in the industry like him
Great is not the word I would use
Nobody cares what words you, specifically, would use
Just like your comment. What’s with attacking me? It’s an opinion ffs
All you did was yuck somebody's yum. Share your opinion when it's warranted, but dont shit all over someone just because they like a thing.

Kevin Bacon was awesome in Super. I'm sure he's always down to clown with Gunn
He's just like Kevin Bacon.
As long as he brings up the Cuban Missile crisis.
I find it funny that he's Kevin Bacon in this and somewhere in the multiverse is or was Sebastian Shaw.
Would've been interesting if Earth-616's Kevin Bacon looked exactly like our Earth's Nicolas Cage!
I think it could have been funny if Kevin Bacon wasn't Kevin Bacon
