That movie didn't really effect anything to be honest. It was a mess that undermined the MCU and unnecessarily changed things (Fury's eye, how the Tesseract works, etc). Disappointed that's how they introduced Skrulls in live action.
Edit: Not one intelligent response yet, the truth hurts.
Acting like a pompous arsehole doesn't make you right/prove your point, it just makes you look like a bigger arsehole
Except it doesn't. Reducing Secret invasion to a TV show with supporting characters reduces the importance of Captain Marvel. It should have been a movie with The Avengers
G'iah has been sticking. DPRK already said it 3 months ago, Lizzie Hill corroborated it, and Shine backtracked on Veranke. - [link](https://old.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/woigor/lizzie_hill_also_reports_that_emilia_clarke_is/)
Honestly unless turns out that there is an Abigail brand she’s impersonating, i’d rather they not. Brand is a character I desperately want to see in the MCU and I don’t want her to just be a false identity
It could be she's playing Gi'ah here AND Abigail Brand in other projects, but she's mostly gonna be Gi'ah in this show.
I doubt they'll cast Clarke as just a one-off.
If she IS playing an existing comics character, I'd rather her be G'iah masquerading as Jessica Drew rather than Veranke, Brand, or the former pretending to be either human.
Um…woah there, don’t get me wrong now; that ain’t what I’m saying. I’m all onboard for Clarke to be Brand full stop.
Especially since it was already the title for the gif, and plus it’d be a great role for her to continue to be. I’m not saying I think it makes sense for the name to just be a false identity.
I was kinda just trying to play it safe with my original comment.
If she is playing G’iah, it’s cool the show might be taking cues from *Meet the Skrulls*. That storyline would really fit the murky spy tone this show might be going for and expand more on the Skrulls.
Hopefully they introduce Hulkling then soon as well, after all he is Emperor Dorrek VIII in the tie up for *Meet the Skrulls* in *Road To Empyre: The Kree/Skrull War (2020) #1* and the key to Kree/Skrull peace! Hope they hint at his existence in Secret Invasion.
We have an Australian Norse God and Spider-Man and Dr. Strange are British guys. It really doesn't matter lol. They're Skrulls anyhow so them having random various accents doesn't change much. Hell, for all we know Talos could've been set up and based out of England by Fury.
Just find it really funny that Talos is one of the few big roles Ben Mendelsohn has gotten where he gets to keep his Australian accent, and it's playing an alien. :-P
You know, if Disney's still working on a female-led POTC spinoff (know Margot Robbie's was canned), they can always have it be about Anamaria.
(and before anyone goes "NO DEPP NO PIRATES", the POTC films were never just about Jack. That's like saying the Star Wars OT was all about Han Solo.)
That whole cast was GOLDEN. They all should get ***MCU*** parts, if available (and, no, I *don't* just mean Maslany 20 times over... :-P lol)
Ironically, she wasn't the first member of the *Orphan Black* cast to join the ***MCU*** -- Michael Mando was.
Forgot about that, but personally, I don't put weight on social media flubs. Just as likely to be a mistake by a low-level person making an assumption.
I hope Emilia Clarke's character will be a reoccurring character in the MCU, especially after The Fantastic Four comes out. I think she can be the MCU's version of the Super Skrull who has F4's powers.
Only an assumption but I think they're referring to how Age of Ultron was the same story in name only, it's vastly different in the comics, like entirely different. They're worried it'll be the same with Secret Invasion.
That will almost certainly be the case. Why people assume these large storyline that aren't practical for screen adaptation to be exactly the same I'll never understand. It's going to be the spirit of Secret Invasion, but it won't have dozens of heroes being replaced.
I'm sure it will be great, though.
I think we already know enough to know SI isn't one to one, or really anywhere close. It's a paranoia thriller with Fury and Talos, not a superhero crossover epic.
Comic secret invasion wasn't that either, you may be thinking Secret Wars.
Invasion was about the revelation that the skrulls had been on Earth for decades and were in positions of high power and impersonating heroes and its repercussions. I'm paraphrasing horribly, it's been a while since I've read it.
This happens again and again with people and the MCU. They adapt parts or major beats, but the rest is usually their own version. They use the name because it has recognition and shares similar spirit to the stories that influenced it. For example, some people are taking the Born Again title for the Daredevil reboot a bit too literal. They're assuming Marvel Studios will be adapting that run when it's more likely it was chosen because of the context of him being born again in the MCU while being a dope title. Similar to Spider-Man Homecoming, which was his homecoming to the MCU.
it’s probably going to lay the groundwork for other earth scale/political projects like cap 4, armor wars and thunderbolts. following up on wakanda forever which in turn followed up on Val’s introduction in black widow, hawkeye, falcon+winter soldier. i like that there seems to be a pretty clear direction for these projects

It has been rumored for a long time, I like that the movie Captain Marvel continues to affect the MCU, it is a movie that I enjoy
> the UCM That's not right. It's the Cinematic Universe of Marvel.
In Spain is UCM, sorry edit
It’s a cum joke

LMFAO
How have I never realized that MCU can be rearranged to spell…
Muc?

How have I not realized it all this time?
"The name's Cinematic... Marvel Universe, Cinematic".
CUM TOGETHER RIGHT NOW OVER JOHN LENNON
Ultimate Custom Night?? Like from FNAF???
CUM and SPUMC go so well together
I like that Fury, Cap Marvel and Talos and the Skrulls kind of have their little corner of the MCU to play in. Excited to see these characters again!
Wait is it actually called the UCM in Spain?
Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel
Thanks for the reply, didn’t know it was called anything other than the MCU
I mean, it's the same thing, just translated.
In brazilian portuguese it's almost the exact same, but with *da* instead of *de*

I stopped reading at: ***"It was a mess that undermined the MCU"***
Too many big words, my bad.

I swear I've read like 50 posts about who Emilia Clarke is playing and they all say a different character.

Honestly tho after those official gifs were revealed, I feel like she’s gonna be at least called Abigail Brand at some point.
Honestly unless turns out that there is an Abigail brand she’s impersonating, i’d rather they not. Brand is a character I desperately want to see in the MCU and I don’t want her to just be a false identity

Yuh, this
If she IS playing an existing comics character, I'd rather her be G'iah masquerading as Jessica Drew rather than Veranke, Brand, or the former pretending to be either human.

Ah that’s fair, my mistake
only reason not to bring kelsey back would be if emilia is playing brand, because that age difference would be too weird.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea?
Well she is a skrull so /j
maybe she plays a redditor
That’s basically what The Riddler was in The Batman. Batman out here getting dusted by clowns and keyboard warriors 😂😂😂
Yes, I think we will learn who she is playing sooner than later, I thought it was Abigail brand
First Secret Invasion? Happens to the best of us.
If she is playing G’iah, it’s cool the show might be taking cues from *Meet the Skrulls*. That storyline would really fit the murky spy tone this show might be going for and expand more on the Skrulls.

is this series good? i keep forgetting to read this
I thought it was pretty solid. Artwork’s good and I liked exploring a Skrull’s POV
The revelations of characters who had been skrull imposters for years ( like Hank pym ) was awesome
[удалено]
I think they were referring to *Meet the Skrulls*
Is it a Skrull version of Meet The Fockers?
Skrull Grandpa De Niro when?
I’ve got nipples, Fury. Can you milk me?
it will probably be an in name reference only, which is a shame because its a great comic
From the moment she was cast, I assumed she would be Talos’s daughter.
...honestly, I would've cast an Australian actress, then, for accent consistency with Mendelsohn.
That's because Aussie's are essentially aliens already lol. Have you seen how wild the shit they live with down there is?!
It's not that wild, I've only been attacked 6 times this week.
Peak comedy folks
That accent us Australian? To me it sounds distinctly like South London, which would be in keeping with Talos's love of 80s reggae.
It's definitely his natural Aussie accent
I'm sure there's someone with more, but Amelia Clark has got some pretty impressive franchise cred. Terminator, Star Wars, MCU, GoT...
Zoe Saldaña
Marvel, Star Trek and Avatar? What else?
Pirates of the Caribbean
Are we just gonna gloss over Drumline like that?
You know, if Disney's still working on a female-led POTC spinoff (know Margot Robbie's was canned), they can always have it be about Anamaria. (and before anyone goes "NO DEPP NO PIRATES", the POTC films were never just about Jack. That's like saying the Star Wars OT was all about Han Solo.)
You got it + Pirates of the Caribbean. She’s the queen of film franchises.
And she’s hot
And two of those three she got over Tatiana Maslany. :-/
But Tat got Orphan Black, and basically is the crowning gem of that show... as well as half the other gems lol
That whole cast was GOLDEN. They all should get ***MCU*** parts, if available (and, no, I *don't* just mean Maslany 20 times over... :-P lol) Ironically, she wasn't the first member of the *Orphan Black* cast to join the ***MCU*** -- Michael Mando was.
And she was unfortunately in the shittiest part of each(except early seasons of GOT)
No. She’s consistently great in all of those.
I didn't say she was bad, I said she appeared in the bad parts of those franchises.
Wait... so she isn't Abigail Brand?
I'm not sure anyone reliable ever said Brand. This was one of things that was assumed by fans at the outset, and repeated over and over.
Secret Invasion's official Tenor account called her Abigail Brand
Forgot about that, but personally, I don't put weight on social media flubs. Just as likely to be a mistake by a low-level person making an assumption.
No. This rumour sounds about right. The reliable scoopers have backed it. So yeah, it's G'iah
I hope Emilia Clarke's character will be a reoccurring character in the MCU, especially after The Fantastic Four comes out. I think she can be the MCU's version of the Super Skrull who has F4's powers.
Or an analogue of Johnny Storm’s wife at some point! (I think her name was Lyja)
Off topic but i have the feeling that Secret Invasion is gonna be the Age of Ultron of this new saga but i hope i'm wrong.
What do you mean? I liked Age of Ultron
Only an assumption but I think they're referring to how Age of Ultron was the same story in name only, it's vastly different in the comics, like entirely different. They're worried it'll be the same with Secret Invasion.

It did feature a ton of heroes though is what they're getting at. This show won't be anything close to the scale of that, and that's a good thing imo.
This happens again and again with people and the MCU. They adapt parts or major beats, but the rest is usually their own version. They use the name because it has recognition and shares similar spirit to the stories that influenced it. The Age of Ultron comic was terrible so say what you will about the movie, it was a step up.
>but I hope I’m wrong So you don’t want it to be good?
Age of Ultron was bad
It’s idiotic that you’re being downvoted for this, but it’s expected from this community.
Seems pointless but is actually one of the most important parts of the saga?
AOU was never pointless, people were annoyed it did more to set up future stories than it did focus on the one it was telling
“Seems pointless”.
Bark
?

Ah yes, Nell, a regular human name
Tay tay? Tay tay in da win?
The more info they release of this show the more I wonder why it’s called secret invasion😂 but i love that comic run
Secret invasion should have been a big movie event like Civil war
Thank god she isn’t quake. I need Chloe bennet to come back
Tay inna wind! Chicka chicka chickabee!
do her eyebrows have names as well?
The boringness of her being G’iah rather than Veranke or Abigail Brand just makes this all the more plausible.

When am I gonna see my boy, Glup Shitto
Lizzie Hill recently started retweeting a bunch of her old tweets speculating that Talos’s daughter would return as well
I thought she was gonna be Abigail Brand?
Isn't Secret Wars supposed to come out next spring?
No look at the slate
Spring 2023 yes
Still missing the return of Chloe Bennet as Quake though :-(
eh its a small thing but i wouldve liked her name to be Veranke
Boring.
ok and?
This is a subreddit dedicated to discussion of spoilers, leaks and rumours involving the Marvel Cinematic Universe and related properties.
This made me chuckle. It reminded me of the time where Homer's brain explained to him that money could be exchanged for goods and services.
What?! Why did no one tell me?!
What else are u here for lmao
Incredible contribution
