The city cares less about Phillies than every other team. It's a little hot but all other sports towns wouldn't be this dead because of 90 degrees partly cloudy.
Exactly!
Now I live in philly and they can't handle a little sun. If the team was legit there would be more fans. The 76ers game was hot and they left early.
Terrible comment lol. Philly loves the Phillies people just aren’t ready to sit outside in 90 degree heat and humidity with the sun beating down on them for 3 hours yet
34,000 was the attendance today, which is honestly a really good crowd for an 18-22 team who hasn't made the playoffs in over a decade. It was just super hot, also the noon game meant not much shade, so a lot of people couldn't stay the whole game.
that's how they came up with that P logo anyway
here I am on a beeline with the team, nope out to the left, wait something cool happened I'm come back aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand well now we're behind again
And it made for a great [photo](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/fetch/w_736,h_485,c_fill,g_auto,f_auto/https%3A%2F%2Fdodgersway.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fgetty-images%2F2020%2F10%2F1280983442-850x560.jpeg).
One of my favorite defensive plays I watched live
"Ran in front of the runner and physically stopped him from getting thrown out at home" is such a laughable exaggeration of what happened here. Fandom is a hell of a drug.
It is an exaggeration but it's still probably supposed to be an out, by the letter of the rule.
That said, it should also have technically been an out when Big Mac hit #62 and the first base coach nudged him back to first base.
I'm certainly more interested in the spirit of the rule, by which both plays were called correctly.
I mean is it really though? Not sure what I expected going into this, but he physically stood in the baseline so the runner would run into him and stop. Definitely shouldn’t be allowed.
Oof blown call unless there was no actual contact and the coach stayed in foul territory.
Edit: having seen the video, it's an obviously not blown call. Runner ran into the coach, coach did not initiate contact, no out.
Well it takes a second to process what's happening. The third base coach probably wasn't expecting him to take off when JT had already tried to tag him, so the coach has to react, then the runner has to react to the coach, and that all takes time.
I'm sure he told JT to stay initially, but maybe JT was confused about whether that still was the case when he thought the ball got away. Then he popped up to go, coach had to tell him again to stay, and before he could react to that and get back to the bag, Turner had the tag down.
Can’t go anywhere as a baserunner if you don’t know where the ball is, or at the very least without seeing if your third base coach knows where the ball is

I just can't fucking believe this team
Phillies fans right now thinking about JT https://www.nbcsports.com/sites/rsnunited/files/archive/assets_article/philadelphia/2020/04/30/jt.gif
That’s one of my favorite breakdowns. So funny
Which one is it? Thanks.
[here you go my friend](https://youtu.be/NjppLBbyczo)
Thank you! (:
Don’t worry Muncy got y’all the dub
MAX MUNCY THAT FUNKY MUNCY
Can I ask why there are so many empty seats for a Sunday game this early in the season
It's brutally hot. The team is not.
It’s like 100 and humid outside here it’s disgusting
The city cares less about Phillies than every other team. It's a little hot but all other sports towns wouldn't be this dead because of 90 degrees partly cloudy.
Todays attendance was 34,000. You’re being dramatic.
And a ton of no shows.
Because it’s super hot outside and humid and it’s a day game.
Nah man, Philadelphians hate the heat. More so than “any other sports town”.
Well, where are they supposed to put their batteries when it's warm out? I kid.
Exactly! Now I live in philly and they can't handle a little sun. If the team was legit there would be more fans. The 76ers game was hot and they left early.

But that doesn't refute anything I said. They are the 4th popular team here. They kinda suck so people won't stick through bad conditions to watch em.
Flyers attendance is way lower than ours
Wow! Good analysis! I wonder, are baseball stadiums about the same size as other sports??
No they are not. But if the flyers were more popular, surely they’d sell out this smaller stadium every game?
The Flyers, Union and Sixers are not more popular than the Phillies
Your Chicago education is showing
I wasn't educated in Chicago...but imagine thinking philadelphia is better.
idk man the philadelphia museum of art is S++++++ tier
Barnes >
Lmao shut up it gets to like 85 degrees outside and everyone in Chicago thinks they’re standing on the sun. Y’all don’t know what hot actually is.
We love our mediocre team you bozo

We’ve given up
/r/agedlikemilk
Just cause I’ve given up doesn’t mean they won’t try to reel me back in.
that's how they came up with that P logo anyway here I am on a beeline with the team, nope out to the left, wait something cool happened I'm come back aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand well now we're behind again
Max Muncy shows some brotherly love
Aaaand phils won
Well tbh it’s more that the Dodgers lost 😢
I’ll take it
Yea we definitely know what that's like.
I guess not lol
Muncy has Phillies Ml
We suck
When did you guys trade places with the Mets?
Baseball IQ is the sexiest stat in the game.
Remember when JT kept to tag the Braves player out two years ago. One of his all time moves
Our world-famous postseason baserunning. Causing confusion worldwide since 1991.

I have that on a tshirt
I need that
I’m convinced that play won us the World Series. We felt down and out before that.
Considering the situation, it's definitely up there for the most important play of the postseason.
I choose to believe Freddie threw the ball high on purpose.
5d chess just to lose in extras
The fabled 6th d
And that the SS foresaw this happening so his poor decision was actually genius.
Probably juat excited to get to throw it. He doesn't often get to show off his arm.
God this is such a good play
Gives this man the OSCAR
Well, now THAT'S a TOOTBLAN
The third base coach's face and posture will now be in the dictionary to illustrate "disappointment".
Justin Turner: >Surprise motherfucker
Gotta listen to the third base coach smh
Yup, he wasn't fooled in the least. If grabbing the runner were legal, he'd have done that.

that’s just the human brain really. things get altered in our memory every time we recall them.

Yeah, total misrepresentation of the actual play now that I've seen it.
I assume the runner was called out.

Wasn't Wotus

The 3rd base coach is firmly pointing at the base (telling Realmuto to stay) as soon as Turner catches the ball

Phillies season in a nutshell
And now we just won, I don’t understand this
.500 ball lives on
This is high school shit. Embarrassing
So was the play at 2B lol it evens out I guess
That was little league shit
Justin Turner was the only human on that field who knew what he was doing.

He’s talking about how embarrassing it is that Realmuto fell for it, not that Turner tried it. Chill out dude.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Got it lmfao
For fans of this play, here's Manny Machado: **https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGdTKPZxmA8**
Greatest play I've ever seen. It was so hype at the time.
https://youtu.be/32BSSvmtsFQ Another fake throw the Rays fall for, this one in the World Series
Realmuto having a tough season lol
Torn between heads up for the play by JT, or it being a heads down play for the play by JT
Can’t go anywhere as a baserunner if you don’t know where the ball is, or at the very least without seeing if your third base coach knows where the ball is
WHO CARES, PHILLIES WIN. FUCK THE COWBOYS!
JT > JT
I used to do things like this on my corporate softball team and the umps would yell at me.
throw was high but damn freddie can throw it hard
This is by far the most Phillies outcome of all time. First and third, no outs, but nope! Let’s just try to do too much
My Ginger Jesus
This is gonna be in a few YouTube comps. That's our savvy ginger jesus.
downright dirty. Fuck hahaha
This should have been the play of the game, but alas...
Some dude did that to me about 10 years ago In a softball game and I’m still pissed about it.
Bush league /s
I fucking hate it when announcers talk over each other. One of you is the play by play man, one of you isn't. Get it together.
It's one of Dontrelle's first games ever in the booth. Dude is still finding his rhythm a bit.
Reminds me of the couple weeks Shooty Babitt did color.
lolphillies
lol
Extras have been something today
Baited
Don’t run unless you can see the ball.
That moment when it’s too late as J.T looks back and makes eye contact at JT as his weight is shifting off the base.
lmao instant karma came right after
Dumb shit
What’s the Statcast velocity on that throw by Freeman? Looked like an absolute laser!
That is also as embarrassing as falling for the hidden ball trick
J.T on J.T crime
Can we talk about how dumb of a throw to 1st that was? He wasn’t even remotely close to throwing him out.
Ive done this type of thing over the past 10 years in my beer league softball games sometimes and its worked like 5 or 6 times. Worth it
Haven't seen a deke like that from Turner since the WS celebration debacle
